1 oz Johnson Matthey Silver Bar

These silver bars aren't just precious metal assets—they're pieces of history. Crafted by the once-revered Johnson Matthey, a name synonymous with precious metals excellence for over a century, each 10 oz bar carries iconic design elements, rare availability in today's market, and the enduring allure of .999 fine silver.

    Get to Know Johnson Matthey

Johnson Matthey was founded by Percival Norton Johnson in London, England in 1817. The company began as a gold assayer’s shop under Johnson’s guidance, and grew to Johnson Matthey after George Matthey joined the business in 1851. One year later, the business earned status as an Official Assayer & Refiner to the Bank of England.

Today however, Johnson Matthey is no longer involved in the precious metals marketplace. After more than 150 years in the industry, the company sold its silver and gold refining business to Japan’s Asahi Ltd. As a result, these 10 oz Johnson Matthey Silver Bars are some of the few remaining JM products available for purchase on the market.

Beyond its investment clout, the coin shines for its artistry:

    Obverse: “JM” logo, hammer/pickax

On the obverse face of the bar you’ll find the original Johnson Matthey logo, which features the initials “JM” and the hammer and pickax logo. Below that image, you’ll find additional engravings of the company name, the metal content, purity, and weight of the bar. Each bar has an individual serial number engraved along the bottom as well.

    Reverse: 45° repeating JM logo

The reverse side of the 10 oz Johnson Matthey Silver Bar features only the repeating image of the Johnson Matthey logo, as described above. This pattern is set at a 45-degree angle and repeats across the reverse of the bar.

A Piece of Precious Metals History

Own a piece of precious metals history with this 10 oz Johnson Matthey Silver Bar. Crafted by a company that served as an Official Assayer to the Bank of England for over 150 years (now rare on the market), each bar features .999 fine silver. The obverse displays the iconic “JM” logo, hammer/pickax emblem, metal details, and a unique serial number. The reverse has a repeating JM logo pattern at a 45° angle.

    A Collector’s & Investor’s Choice

Ideal for collectors and investors, the 10 oz Johnson Matthey Silver Bar offers .999 fine silver purity and historic significance. Johnson Matthey, once an Official Assayer to the Bank of England, exited precious metals, so these bars are now scarce.

    A Rare Secondary Market Gem

Johnson Matthey once stood as a titan in the precious metals industry, but today, these 10 oz silver bars have becomeexceptionally rare. They’re exclusively available through the secondary market—you simply can’t find them as newly minted, sealed products anymore. While bars from the secondary market might arrive without their original packaging or show minor toning and light contact marks, they still carry the same .999 fine silver purity and iconic Johnson Matthey design that makes them a coveted find for collectors and investors.
